The Good, the Bad & the Medicinal Fall Fungi of Arkansas

We’re sorry, but this event has SOLD OUT! If you would like to add your name to a waiting list, just email us and we will let you know if a seat opens up. Thank you!

Sunday, November 3, 10am-7pm

Presented by Jay Justice

This new PowerPoint presentation and foraging workshop will focus on techniques used to identify just which fall mushrooms are worth picking!

Our morning presentation will be followed by a lunch break (brown-bag it or head over to Grandma’s Cafe for some down-home Southern cooking), and an afternoon foray in the Ozark National Forest to observe and collect edible, medicinal and other mushrooms/fungi in their natural habitat.

Then we’ll gather our finds, head back to Ozark Folkways for a hands-on ID workshop followed by a tasting session.

Jay Justice is a retired epidemiologist who formerly worked at the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality. He is a co-founder and scientific advisor for the Arkansas Mycological Society (1982) and a scientific advisor to the Cumberland Mycological Society as well as a chief mycologist for the Missouri Mycological Society.

Tickets are non-refundable. (In the event that you are unable to use your ticket we will make every effort to resell your ticket and refund your money, but if we can’t find someone to purchase the seat, there will be no refund.)
