Introduction to Weaving

Saturday, November 24, 9am-Noon

Presented by Jody Wheeler

Join fiber artist Jody Wheeler for this introduction to the ancient art of weaving. In this class, we will cover basic terminology, warping the frame loom, and basic weave structures. Class members will leave with a working sampler on a picture frame loom. Alternative weaving equipment will be introduced to further peak your interest in the joy of weaving. Frames, yarn and take-home instructions are included. Bring a dinner fork to use to beat the yarn into submission.

Jody Wheeler recently moved to Arkansas from Maine. She studied Fiber Arts at Cumbria Institute of the Arts in Northwest England, and Art Education at Empire State College in upstate New York.  She and her husband have lived in many places around the world where Jody has studied the fiber heritage of diverse cultures. Jody is a gardener, an avid musician and a prolific weaver. With a love of texture, color and composition, Jody brings her excitement and sense of humor to her teaching.
